The math center is always a popular center for my kids to go to in my classroom, but I do not have many materials for them to explore with. My kids need every opportunity to experiment and explore the world around them. This will help them in every academic area.
Our math concepts are addressed in a large group setting daily through calendar activities, direct lessons, graphing, sorting, counting rhymes, etc.
which correlate to the theme or literature being studied, and independently at centers and tubs with one-on-one skills practice.
My Project
I would love to build my math tubs up for my children. I have many manipulatives but not much to support their use on an independent level. Math tubs are simply plastic tubs containing games and hands on manipulatives for students to use, that focus on a particular math concept. Students need daily opportunities to explore various manipulatives in order to master logical thinking and problem solving skills such as sorting, sequencing, counting, addition, subtraction, estimating and patterning.
I am asking for several math activities to support what I currently have and increase the depth of our math tubs.
Children learn best by being actively engaged with materials other than paper and pencil alone. The materials which I have requested will give my students fun opportunities to master math concepts. Kindergarten is all about fun! Thank you for supporting teachers, children and education. You make all the difference.
