This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Do you remember what it was like to write your name for the very first time? Probably not; but my Kindergarten class gets so excited seeing their name in print.
I teach 18 Kindergarten students whose ages range between 5 and 6 years old.
The area that I teach in is considered a low socioeconomic area of Texas. My students are motivated to learn. If you meet them you would truly love them, they love learning. Kindergarten is not a required grade in the state of Texas but the benefits and rewards that it offers the students are simple phenomenal. I feel honored and privileged to have the opportunity to serve these students.
My Project
The resources will be of vital importance to our class for example the primary journal will allow the students to track their writing progress. I can just see it, September students writing all over the place, but each and every day we keep writing. Then in May the students are actual writing sentences and paragraphs. The triangular pencils will help the students fine motor skills and the crayons will allow them to bring their pictures alive and in color. The pencil sharpener will let them keep their pencils sharp. The picture stamps will let them be creative while they master the writing process. Can you see it little authors of their own books and illustrators too...I cannot wait to see their faces as they start the process.
Writing is so important it is a major concepts that we take for granted.
I want my students to love the art of writing and I truly believe that if they are given the resources to master this craft they will love writing.
