This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Do you hate writing with a dull pencil? My students sure do! Do you love listening to music while you work? My students do, too!

My students are 26 wonderful 9 and 10 year olds.

They are a great class. They help each other, ask wonderful questions, apply themselves, and learn! They attend a charter school in an urban area of California. The school is low-income. About 85% of my students receive free and reduced lunch. Given this, they will benefit greatly from some financial assistance.

My Project

Some things are enriching and make education better and some things just make education possible. I'm asking for both. My students would love an electric pencil sharpener. With the small hand sharpeners, pencils are reduced to nubs during minutes (which seem like hours) of sharpening. We'd also love an mp3 player with speakers. This will allow students to enjoy music as they work, hear speeches as they were meant to be heard, and also transition to audio cues.

The materials I'm asking for may seem inconsequential individually, but this project will truly better my classroom.

Students respond well to music. Having a dull pencil bothers even the most patient of students! These supplies will go a long way towards improving our classroom environment!
