Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
"Si se puede" Yes, we can! I have heard this phrase a lot of times not only from our news, but also from President Barack Obama. Yes, we can! We can make a lot of positive changes in children's lives and education by offering them a rich learning environment. What can you do for them?
We are a Third Grade Bilingual Classroom.
My students come from an area of low economic status. When many of these students enter the classroom, they read below grade level and fluency levels as well as mathematical skills. Unfortunately, the majority lack the motivation needed to succeed in life and be life long learners. Some even feel not confident and not successful to learn, acquire and expand new vocabulary in a second language.
My Project
Not only hands-on materials but a variety of literacy and math workstations are vital to meet the diverse learning needs of our students. Nowadays, paper and pencil are not enough tools for students to benefit from instruction. That is why I like to use different strategies to enhance my students' learning environment. But we still need more hands-on materials such as Word Puzzle Fun! Activity Folders, Using Sight-Words Instant Learning Center, Wrap-Around Language Games, Writing Super Sentences Instant Learning Center and Daily Language Station. With these hands-on materials, my students will be able to expand their vocabulary, reinforce word analysis to grammar, punctuation and sentence structure. They will also encourage them to participate creatively within the classroom and enjoy their input. Students will be interested to learn in a fun way.
If students lack the motivation to participate fully in the class, another plan should be made for them.
My students need to feel confident in their daily instruction not only in their native language but as they acquire a new one.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
