My Students

Students can now be thoroughly engaged in improving their vocabulary and preparing for the SATs!

My students are motivated, engaged learners who are concurrently taking college courses along with their high school workload.

Most come from low income families, where education is not always a priority. However, these students know that education is their key to a great future. Going to college will help continue opening doors for these students. Scoring well on the SAT will help them get on the right track.

My Project

The Wizard of Oz Vocabulary Builders are a fun, painless way to improve vocabulary. The book tells the familiar story of Dorothy and friends, but uses key SAT words instead. Students can look up the definitions and see advanced vocabulary used in context. Along with other study, this book helped my sister score an 800 on the SAT verbal section, so I know that it works. I have also read it and enjoyed the process of reading a familiar story with more advanced vocabulary. My Freshmen AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) students are learning about organization, study skills, college entrance, and careers. Building their vocabulary will help them with all of these endeavors. I would also like to share the books with other AVID classes, so that many students can benefit from this amazing reading experience.

My students are doing their part by taking initiative and prioritizing their own education.

Please help them build their vocabulary, score well on the SAT, and be more prepared for college! We will be clicking our heels three times, hoping these books find their way home to us here!
