My Students

Everyone remembers a time when dinosaurs were one of the most fascinating things this world had to offer. Trying to imagine the size and wonderful changes that occurred while the dinosaur roamed the earth is very interesting to everyone especially 2nd grade students.

I want to give my students the opportunity to observe real fossils and exact replicas of fossils.

I want them to better understand the massive size of the different dinosaurs and the tiny creatures that also existed during these time periods. I want to give them a chance to see pictures in books and also give them a three-dimensional object to observe.

My Project

The study of fossils can also be carried into other subject areas. When we study fossils we not only study the history of them, but we also incorporate them into the rest of our subjects. We can use our fossils and write descriptive papers on the individual fossils. We can also write about existing during the time period of different fossils. There are endless possibilities to the different uses of the fossils, and fossil replicas.

The most memorable lessons for my students have been the hands-on lessons.

The fossils and fossil replicas will give the students the opportunity to not only study the different time periods of the fossils, but to also see and hold a part of history. When they are able to see and feel the fossils it will inspire them to learn more on their own. I want to further intrigue my students to become self guided learners, and in turn create life long learners.
