My students need 8 graphing calculators to become great statisticians.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Maybe you loved math or maybe math scares you a bit. I am fortunate to teach in a school where learning math is highly valued and my students love learning Statistics every day. Their positivity makes my job easier and more fun...and they learn more math as a result.
My school is about 40% Free and Reduced Lunch students, so for many of them a graphing calculator is a luxury.
We are a diverse and heterogeneous population and remarkably all our seniors take an AP math class. All our students are college bound (many of them will be the first in their family) and have the required classes for entrance to a four-year college. And did I mention that they love to learn?
My Project
I would like eight TI-83 calculators to loan to my students for the year, like a textbook. This would allow them more opportunities to practice using the calculator at home and more flexibility to do their homework outside of school. Statistics relies on the calculator for much of the work to give us more time to explore concepts, rather than just calculations.
Your donation will start the domino effect:
students will learn Statistics
...which will help them pass the AP exam in May
...which will get them college credit
...which will allow them to take higher level classes in college
...which will make them ready to be a thoughtful, contributing member of society.
Please support this project to further the education of college bound students.
