This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

As we begin the new school year there are so many great things to look forward to! First grade is such an exciting year!

Our school is in a high needs areas with predominantly bilingual students.

I have 25 students who are eager to learn! Unfortunately, most of my students lack the essential resources at home. Therefore when they come to school, it is imperative that they are surrounded by resources that will help them learn and grow as successful readers.

My Project

I am in need of a listening center for my classroom. Throughout the day my students work cooperatively in literacy centers. One center that would greatly benefit my students is a listening center. A listening center will allow my students to follow text, while listening to a variety of genres through the listening center. Listening centers are a great way to model phrasing and fluency while also providing access to higher level texts. This will allow five students to listen to a book together while I work with a small group. While the students are listening to the story, they will be able to follow along, as each student will have their own book.

Your donation will encourage, teach and inspire my students to read.

Having a listening center will help foster the love of reading, a skill that most of us take for granted. Thank you so much!
