My Students
I teach students who struggle with life. We strive to motivate and educate them upon a quest to become college bound. I teach 10-11 grade students College Prep. Chemistry. I teach at a high need (53% title I) high school in southern California.
My school is a comprehensive charter high school (student population is over 2,200 students) with a mission to prepare students for the rigors of college.
To this end, our school's graduation requirements are the entrance requirements for the both the UC and CSU college systems.
Many students struggle just to attend school on a regular basis. Once at school, students are often faced with many resource problems. One of the largest problems that students face is the ability to have access to high powered and functional technology. Students need time using technology in complex and exciting ways to be properly prepared for college. Students also struggle to make the connection between abstract chemistry concepts and their daily lives. Teachers need to design methods to elicit complex problem solving and creative within the classroom.
My Project
I see part of the solution is to provide computers to the students. These computers would be used to develop living labs. These living labs would be digital versions of lab conducted in class. The resources that I need must function complex alogrimic visualizations and a printer that can produce professional grade output of student projects.
You can help make "Chemistry Come Alive" for students.
You can make it possible for students to move past the abstract and boring barrier of chemistry. Your help will ensure that my students will be prepared for college. The assignments that I will be able to craft using these HP products will be truly amazing. You will make it possible for my students to demonstrate mastery of abstract chemistry concepts into visual, graphical, and scientifically accurate documents.
