Imagine running your own multimedia center in your classroom...as a third grader. It's not impossible. With a Mac Mini, students have the chance to create and edit video, pictures, and digital recordings of everything we do in class.
My students are from a small town with big dreams.
Many of my students do not have access to technology at home, which magnifies the importance of providing them with interaction with technology in our classroom. My students are eager to work with all types of technology and jump to independently build their skills in all subject areas including reading, writing, listening, viewing, and speaking with technology.
My Project
A Mac Mini provides a user friendly operating system for students to create and share their learning experiences. This Mac Mini will serve as the multimedia hub for publishing and supporting student learning. Throughout the year, we will be creating our own audio books, diving into the writing process with the ease of digital editing, creating video to share with our school community, accommodating students with special needs, and participating in activities that support our global citizenship. These activities enrich our curriculum and community experience by providing safe, fun, and authentic activities for students to participate in.
Integration of technology to support student core-content area learning, as well as technical skill building and teamwork is invaluable.
Without these resources in our classroom, students may never have access to these programs or experiences throughout their K-12 academic career. Allowing opportunities for students to be independent contributes to their self-worth and self-esteem. This multimedia project also enriches not just our classroom but will provide resources for the entire school.
