Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students need to be engaged in learning! A set of phonics activities that the students can be successful at independently would do wonders for their language skills!
I am a second grade teacher in a Title 1 school.
This school is in a very low income area, and many of my students come from troubled home situations.
I want more than anything for them to be exposed to a wide variety of supplies and curriculum so that they can achieve their full potential. Literacy is essential!
My Project
These phonics activity centers are all-inclusive! They provide students with everything they need to be successful in their learning. Children simply choose an activity, then follow the step-by-step instructions to complete it at their own pace. These centers target standards such as identifying phonics sounds, reading for meaning, vowel sounds, writing super sentences, and reading with fluency. The Reading and writing instant learning centers allow several students to use the activity at once, which is a huge benefit.
This process of having the class engaged independently or in small group provides me with invaluable time to devote to students in small groups or one-on-one, where I can truly dedicate my time to each of them to help them at their level and to reach their full potential.
Budget cuts have affected us all, and they have made their way into my classroom as well.
Your generous donation would dramatically change the level of engagement in my room and help to create young readers who love to read! Thank you for considering this proposal.
