I am a teacher in East New York. This area has a poverty rate of about 95%. The student's families are unable to provide the basic school supplies. Also this year Teacher's Choice was reduced so I am unable to buy any learning tools that would benefit my students.
Instead I have to use my funds and the small amount they gave to buy the basic school supply needs of my students.
Most od the students come from young and single parents who try sometimes but can not financially meet the needs of their children. The public school in located in a high poverty area in New York City.
My Project
So I am calling on you to help me bring these learning tools to my classroom. I am requesting the BRICK BUILDING TABLE, BUILDING BRICK PEOPLE and the CLASS SET OF BUILDING BRICKS. These tools will allow my students to think of strategies in which how to build a city, where to place the buildings and its designs, where to place the roads, people etc. Does this design allow movement in the city? Will the buildings stand the way it was built?
All these skills can be transferred into other subject areas as well as strategies they can use in life.
Young children learn so much through play. This leads to a more confident student who can think of different ways to solve problems in school and out. So please chose this project and help my students BUILD A PERFECT WORLD !
