My Students
Tight squeeze! That's how we feel everyday in our new pre-k classroom. Although we are very thankful to have a classroom available for preschool students, our room is very small! Help us add an alphabet center to our room that takes us minimal space, but offers a variety of ABC learning activities.
I teach two half-day sessions of at-risk preschool in Illinois.
Each session of preschool has 20 children, for a total of 40 students. Many of the children are from low income or single parent families. My students range in age from 3 to 5 years old. Twenty percent of my students have special needs.
My Project
I am requesting a storage unit and a variety of ABC learning materials to create an Alphabet Center in our classroom. Since space is very limited in our room, this compact storage unit will be perfect. The ABC learning materials that I am requesting focus on skills such as letter recognition and phonemic awareness. Creating a well-stocked Alphabet Center in our classroom will greatly benefit our students. This will provide an area for the children to explore the alphabet in a fun way. I want learning the alphabet to be fun for the children so they enjoy learning and gain the skills they need before going on to kindergarten.
Your donation will help make our vision for an Alphabet Center a reality in our classroom.
Preschoolers are at such an impressionable age! Now is the time to teach them all that we can. I know that adding an Alphabet Center to our classroom will strengthen the children's language and letter recognition skills. This will also help them become better prepared for kindergarten.
