My students need literacy centers, magnetic letters, 6 soft seats to read on, word and writing journals, a pocket chart stand and other literacy supplies.

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I am a first grade teacher in CT.
This upcoming school year will be my 5th year teaching and my second year teaching amazing 1st graders in an inner-city, urban school that is making strides in student achievement. Since my students live in one of the poorest cities in the nation, supplies and resources are few and far between.
My Project
The literacy materials that I am requesting will provide my enriching learning experiences for my students. These materials will also ensure that my students are provided with the resources they need to help them become better readers and writers. Strong literacy skills are the building blocks for all other subject areas. Strengthening these skills will allow for success across the board.
