This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
What was the first book that opened your mind to the world of possibilities? My students haven't read it yet, but I hope to change that!
My students are from low-income, often broken families.
Many are thankful for the two balanced meals they receive at our small Title I school. They are all curious and eager to learn, but we have few books in our classroom library, and I want to open their eyes to the world of imagination!
My Project
This is an assortment of books that should appeal to a wide range of interests. Some are educational, and others are just plain fun! I plan to use these books for independent reading practice for my students, thus giving them the opportunity to choose from a variety of NEW books in excellent condition. Not only will they be learning to read, they will also be learning how to care for books.
Please help my students to read and to learn.
The few books we have in our classroom are old and tattered. Students need books in good condition, and of a wide variety. If I can peak their interests, even my struggling students will become better readers!
