My Students

Do you know how it feels to be ready to sing and suddenly there's no music to sing along with or you're ready for a poem and no sound comes out? Our Ipod is on the way but now we need good speakers so we can easily hear the stories and songs from anywhere in the room.

My students are from a small community school in rural Illinois.

For the most part, they have been together, as a class, since PreK. Many children in the class struggle with reading. They need instruction, practice, and repetition to improve their fluency and comprehension.

My Project

If our classroom has the speakers for our Ipod touch player, we will be ready to practice reading the lyrics to the songs that go along with our stories. We will be ready to practice our phonics skills with the poems that go along with those same stories. The concentration won't be lost because we can hear clearly from anywhere in the room. We can also follow along when we listen to the first reading of the story downloaded from the cd, giving us more background before we read it ourselves. New speakers for our Ipod touch player would let us hear the correct phrasing of the text. It will greatly enhance our learning experiences. The sound will be wonderful. These speakers will help my classroom stay up with current technology.

My students will benefit from quality speakers.

Hearing the correct phrasing of stories and songs will help improve their fluency and in turn their reading comprehension. Your donations will make a difference with my students' learning. I also want them to learn that there are wonderful people that give when they can. I hope this will allow them to grow up and also make that difference.
