Hands on Physics

My students need 15 stopwatches to be able to complete many hands on activities within our physics unit.

My Students

Did you enjoy hands on science labs and projects? Do you learn best when you are able to actually participate in an activity rather than read about it?

My students enjoy hands on activities, working in groups and being able to see the science as they are working.

They are not the strongest readers and the textbooks we have are well above their reading levels. Hands on activities allow for them to be a part of their learning.

My Project

The entire 4th quarter in our science curriculum is based on basic physics concepts. Students enjoy hands on activities to learn these concepts. Our school currently does not have enough stopwatches that function properly so that students can practice the concepts of physics and learn about them. They struggle with the ideas of force, motion, work, speed, and acceleration to name a few. There are many labs and activities that students can learn from but they require the use of a stopwatch. It would be nice to be able to do more than read the science book when we are talking about physics.

So many students learn and grasp science concepts when they are able to complete hands on activities.

This small project would give them one more tool to use in the classroom to enhance their learning of these concepts.
