My Students

Have you ever dreamed of seeing a book you wrote in the library or on the book store shelves? With your generous gift, the second graders will take pride in writing and illustrating and publishing their very own hard cover books. Books that last a life time. Reminding them of the joy of writing.

These 2nd graders are gifted and talented in so many ways and are fortunate to be in a school that develops their unique gifts and talents.

One of the talents we love to foster is telling a story, both orally and in writing. Our students are from an urban area in a large city, where many exciting things take place that make for great story telling.

My Project

We are requesting funding for bare hard cover books so that students can feel the pride and joy of having created something lasting. So many times, student work is stapled together with a construction paper cover because that is what the schools can afford. How wonderful it is to be able to offer our students the opportunity to create their very own hard cover book. In the past, we've been able to use school funding to help purchase these books. As everyone knows, there are many cutbacks in educational funding. We are requesting these funds so that our students can continue to know the sense of accomplishment of having published their very own books.

Make a difference in the lives of a child.

This is an opportunity for you to help a child know the sense of accomplishment publishing a hard cover book can provide. Students are used to creating "throw-away" projects at school ~ the kind of things that end up in recycling or in the trash. A hard cover book is a keepsake they can treasure for years to come.
