My students need a puppet theater, a wide assortment of puppets and 2 story sets.
FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Knopf's classroom raised $552
This project is fully funded
I teach kindergarten in a Title I school where over 90% of students receive free/reduced priced lunches. My students are eager to learn but don't always have the materials at home to help support them.
Recently I purchased a hand puppet for my class, I put it on and introduced him as "Teddy". My students were so enthusiastic I was amazed. They have drawn pictures for "Teddy", some of them even take him to our reading center to read to him! I realized that I could capitalize on their fascination with puppets by providing them with a puppet theater and hand puppets so they can retell classic stories or even create their own!
I'm asking for a puppet theater and a variety of puppets to be used with it. The puppets I have chosen go along with themes that I teach in my classroom, books that I already own, or are generic enough to fit into the students' own creations. By retelling stories that we read in class, students are more likely to be able to learn sequencing and comprehension skills. They can express their creativity by making up their own stories too!
Your help will make a puppet theater possible in our classroom! My students will have the opportunity to interact with their classmates as they expand their literacy skills.
