I teach reading, writing, math, science, and social studies to a very energetic group of second graders. Our school is in a high need community, which makes it difficult to look to parents for donations.

As you can imagine, teaching in a high poverty public school during these economic times, funds for extra learning experiences are few and far between. Science is one area that the students absolutely love to learn about. They "oooh" and "ahhh" when reading non-fiction science based books and love to do any type of experiment, no matter how small it may be. Unfortunately, our materials for experiments are slim and we have no games to help reinforce the concepts to last throughout the year.

I'd love to be able to bring in new science kits and games to give the students a deeper understanding of the concepts being taught in class. With these materials, the students will be able to see for themselves what might happen with different states of matter. They may be able to manipulate various tools to explore and expand on what they learn about force and motion. In addition, the various science games will help to reinforce the concepts learned throughout the year.

Your help will make it possible for my students to think more scientifically and ignite an excitement in them to make observations during experiments. I appreciate your time and consideration in showing my students that science matters and so do they!
