Living La Pollo Loco!! Teaching 6th grade science to low income students can be hard, but when you can grab their interest by having them watch a simple egg progress into a chick, it's magic in the class!
We have eggs, my hens will donate them! But we have no incubator nor money to purchase one! My students want to learn the life-cycle in a hands-on manner; most have chickens but have never given thought as to where they come from or what they look like when newly hatched.
We need a small incubator that has a built-in temperature and hygrometer to save money instead of purchasing them separately. They will learn not only the life-cycle, but to respect life. We life in a farming and ranching community where many depend on raising their own chickens for eggs and such, and this is perfect way to teach the cycle of life.
YOU can make the difference in how a child views life! Will they grow up to respect life or abuse it? Will they appreciate what goes into the formation and hatching of a chick, or duckling? When they've been taught respect for life, this is sometimes the only chance they will have to learn it before the gangs try and pull them in.
