Storming Across The Curriculum

My students need multiple copies of 10 disaster novels, such as "Icebound" by Dean Koontz and "Stormy Weather" by Carl Hiaasen, to aid their research on selected disasters and calamities.

Come join the perfect storm where students, books, and discoveries engulf your imagination. Students in my 8th Grade Language Arts classes do an annual research paper on natural and/or natural disasters and blend non-fiction with fiction to discover the many tragedies and calamities that have befallen millions of people.

My students do not have enough disaster novels to fully experience these tragedies. The students really enjoy reading and learning about such disasters like the Love Canal, Hurricane Katrina, etc.

I would like to build a solid collection of disaster novels that are of high interest and age appropriate so that each of my 130 students have one to read and use for their research papers.

Please help my students discover a world beyond their own. Give them a world full of reasons to read.
