Bouncing Through 3rd Grade!

I teach 3rd grade in a middle income school. Being right in the middle means we miss out on a lot of the extras low income or title one schools get. We also miss out on all of the extras the high income schools get. We are stuck in the middle.

As the chair rocks back and forth on the two back legs you know what is coming. Sit in your chair! How many times did you hear that as a student? Being a 3rd grade student is hard these days. You are asked to sit for an hour while the whole class finishes a test. You know when you are sitting in the chair you would rather be moving.

My students would rather be moving on top of an exercise ball. This is a great way for the students to sit in the classroom for any length of time and still be able to get their wiggles out. My goal is to allow each student the choice to use an exercise ball as their chair. This would allow them to move on their ball and get the wiggles out, without putting themselves or others in danger. They will be able to focus on what they are doing in the classroom and not whatthey are doing on their chair.

You will make it possible for my students to work comfortably and stay focused through out the day. They will never have to hear "Sit in your seat" again.
