Help allow rural students the opportunity to visualize history!
Your donation will help sophomores and seniors studying world history and government/economics in a high-need public school on a Native American reservation in New Mexico.
Living three hours from the nearest major city prevents my students from having the same exposure to museums, photographs, libraries, stores, and resources as their peers. My students have mostly lived in this area for several generations and have had little experience with travel. Without exposure to other places and cultures, students have trouble gaining perspective and visualizing our discussions on history. As students get older, they will go to college without the same background information that their peers have experienced.
This problem will be greatly helped by the use of a projector in class. Projectors allow students a chance to watch video clips, listen to radio reports, view pictures of old fashioned clothing, and hear people speaking in other languages. The internet is a fantastic resource that would open the doors for my student to better understand history, and therefore better understand their world. This projector will allow my students to enter college on more equal footing, as they will be exposed to similar sights and sounds that their urban peers have experienced for years.
Your donation will make it possible for my students to simulate some of the experiences which they are currently deprived. With your help, my students will enter college more familiar with their surroundings and confident in their knowledge.
