""Are we having book club again this year?" says one eager student as she passes me in the hallway. These are words that I never thought I would hear. I teach language arts and intensive reading at a middle school where many students still read on a fourth grade level.

I am excited to know that the book club I began last year has my students begging for more time with books. While receiving a book may not seem like a big deal, it means the world to students who do not have books of their own.
My book club girls are in need of the three novels we will read over the course of the school year. Book club has really created a space where a love and excitement for books and good analytical discussion is the norm.
Your help will ensure that my students will be able to continue their love for reading and their beloved book club.
My students need 19 copies each of "Stargirl", "Love, Stargirl" and "Tuck Everlasting".

Dear Sara, claudia, Ashley, Rorry, Magdalena, Alyssa, Suzanne, Jessica, Margaret H., Aparnaa, Brianna, Aja, Carina, Melissa, Kate, Aveen, Jennifer, alison, Dayna, Amber, Sound it Out Records and Anonymous Donor,
I cannot thank you enough for helping to fund this year's book club. The books you donated to my girls have helped them to know just how fun reading can be. We use the books to have discussions about growing up, fitting in, and being yourself. My girls range from fluent readers to readers who struggle pronouncing many on grade level words. However, I am always amazed at how punctual they are every week to read during book club.
Our school is extremely underfunded so, without your help, new books for my girls would not have been possible. You have truly given my girls a gift they will cherish forever which is a love of reading and books they can call their own.
With gratitude, Ms. W.

Dear Sara, claudia, Ashley, Rorry, Magdalena, Alyssa, Suzanne, Jessica, Margaret H., Aparnaa, Brianna, Aja, Carina, Melissa, Kate, Aveen, Jennifer, alison, Dayna, Amber, Sound it Out Records and Anonymous Donor,
First and foremost, you are all amazing and wonderful people for contributing to the girls' growing interest in literature. Reading all of your messages about why you supported our project was truly inspiring and touching.
You have given my girls the gift of quality literature which is something they will take with them throughout their life. At our first meeting of the year, every student said they were excited to read new books they never heard of before. Many of them even said they liked reading because it brought them to new and different places. I also have a couple that I know will be infected by the other students' love of reading.
Thank you so much. My girls are full of excitement about this year's book club. I can't wait to give my girls their new books.
"I can't tell you how exciting it is to get new donations. I can truly say that I have never seen children so thankful for the books they receive in book club."

"I gave to this project because I was raised by educators and was lucky enough to have access to these kinds of resources. I believe in the power of an education. Best of luck to all of you!"
"I gave to this project because books and reading are so important to me. Some of the books I read as a child/young woman had a huge impact on me and the way I see the world and my place in it. I don't want any girls to be denied that opportunity."

"I gave to this project because, as a future children's librarian and lifelong reader, I understand how important having access to good books can be. And I love Tuck Everlasting!"
"I gave to this project because "where the ground is fertile, the seed will grow." It's great that these girls are so interested in reading. Feed the hunger!"
"I gave to this project because I love to read. I have books that I keep not only because of the great stories inside, but because of the memories I have from sharing them with others. I hope you guys enjoy the books!"
"I gave to this project because I love to read and always have. This lead me to go to college for an English degree, and now I work as an Editorial Assistant at a science journal. None of this would have been possible without wonderful teachers (and my parents) who encouraged my love of reading! I hope my small contribution will encourage the students to develop their own lifelong love of reading and learning."
"I gave to this project because I love to read. My company generously matched my donation."

"Books made me realize there was a world beyond my tiny hometown. I followed my dreams out of that town and into the wide world.
Also, I thought Stargirl was an AMAZING book!"
