Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

What’s The Weight? I teach science to students in grades 9-12. The school that I teach at is located in a rural and poverty stricken area.

My school is located in a rural town with a high poverty rate. Most of the lab equipment we have access to is rusted and out dated.

I need electronic scales to teach my students how to weigh objects or substances using modern lab equipment. We currently use balances which are no longer in use in most science labs. I want my students to be exposed to modern lab equipment so when they attend college they will know how to use various pieces of lab equipment instead of being embarrassed because they are not familiar with the equipment. This project will benefit my students by preparing them for college. My students will learn how to use basic lab equipment that is essential in all college science classes.

Your help will make a huge impact in the lives of my students. It will increase their self confidence and motivate them to stay in school and continue their education after graduate high school.
