I teach high school Art in a small high-need community in Kentucky. We currently attempt to function our Art program on a $100/year budget which serves about 75 Visual Arts students this year. This budget does not meet our artistic and creative needs. Can you please help us?!
We need 11 gallons of tempera in a variety of colors to paint the recycle bins our school recently received. The bins were actually originally large food storage containers used for shipping, so they are just brown and very plain. My students have expressed interest in painting these bins with designs they will create. This will serve several purposes. It will make the bins more noticeable and also declare what their purpose is (as right now they are not labeled and it is not clear what they are used for.) Also my students will have the opportunity to create their own "Go Green/Recycle/Etc" design and paint it on a functional piece that will be seen by everyone in the school (as we do not currently have an Art display case.) As a program we are excited that our school has started recycling, we just want to do our part to help promote the idea. But we don't have the paint to do this project.. That's where we are hoping you can help us out!
We think this is a great idea but the problem is we don't have the paint to see it through. We need 11 gallons of tempera in a variety of colors to make this project a reality. It's wonderful that our students are interested in recycling and things they can do to help our environment. If we can teach them now, hopefully they can take this into college and their future and continue to use various techniques in staying GREEN. This project will not only give my students the opportunity to create, but will also encourage other students in our school to recycle and do their part by using the bins. It's definitely more than a win-win situation. But we can't do it without you!
YOU can make it possible for my students to have the opportunity to create a thematic design and painting, display their artwork, and promote and encourage others to recycle all by donating to this project. We can't do it without you. Please support my students in their efforts to do their part in making a difference!
