"Lord of the Flies" by William Golding is tough enough to read on it's own. Imagine having to share a book that is falling apart with another student.

I am a teacher in Nebraska who teaches 9-12 English and Speech. I am in my fourth year at this school. We are a poverty school, so it is hard to find money for anything that is not a basic supply. I do not have a very big budget to work with for supplies for the year. I remember that when I was in school it was expected that the student provide basic school supplies, but there are students who cannot even afford these simple items. That is why I set part of my budget aside to purchase these items for them, such as note books, folders, etc. This is where I need help.

A lot of the novels in my class are falling apart. These particular "Lord of the Flies" novels were purchased in 1984, so they have seen better days. I am needing 25 new novels to meet the needs of my students. Not only do I have copies that are falling apart, but I do not even have enough for each student to have their own copy. The content in the book is tough enough to try to understand on it's own without these other distractions. My goal is to get the novels we use each year replaced, but with the total amount needed, it will take me at least 5 or more years to meet this need.

You cannot even imagine how much your donation will mean to my class. Your donation will make it possible to put a new novel in the hands of all my students. Knowledge is power, so please help me to empower my students.
