Wildcats want to read! I work with 2nd and 3rd graders in an after school book club. These students come from a high poverty area and the cost of buying a new book prohibits students from joining. I don't want money to stop a child from developing a love of reading.
Our school had a book club in the past and students enjoyed going. We were losing students because they didn't have the money to buy their own book. I've had many students ask when book club will be starting, but we just don't have enough students that can afford it. I'd love to give these children the gift of enjoying to read. Many of these children don't have books at home, so this would be a great opportunity to expand their home library.
To start our Wildcat Book Attack, we'll need ten copies of five different books. This will allow ten students to join the book club without the worry of how to pay for my book.
Your help will spark the joy of reading with students who don't have many books at home. These students don't get to go to a book store and pick out a new book, but will now receive five brand new books! They'll have the time to discuss the books with their friends and hopefully start a lifelong interest in reading.
