I am a Kindergarten teacher in a high need community. We are a charter school with about 400 students in K-12. We are a newer charter that lost some funding this year. I am responsible for teaching all subjects. I have 20 wonderful inquisitive students.

As a teacher of kindergarten my biggest obstacle is students coming to school without the benefit of preschool. I start with the very basic and will have them reading by the end. I spend a lot of time using manipulative's as they are easier for the students to relate to an object versus the abstract. My students love math as it is more hands on than reading. When we start adding and subtracting I will use the dominoes to help them see the numbers in action.

We need math manipulative's: foam shapes, coins, dominoes, links, and cubes. This project will help my students become more acquainted with math concepts. Each of these will be manipulative's will be used to learn a new concept weekly and reinforce old ones.

Your help will ensure my class can add and subtract by the end of the year. We will also be able to identify shapes and count coins. Math is a fundamental skill needed and if I make learning fun school is fun, my students have a better chance of moving forward with their education later in life. My job is to educate and inspire I can do this better with your help.
