Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

Imagine being a kindergartener who loves animals but has never been to the zoo! Most of my kindergartners have not had the privilege of seeing animals up-close at the zoo... but they love learning about animals, reading about animals, and singing about them! As a teacher at a high-poverty school serving a mostly ESL population, I know I must make every moment count if my students are to catch up with their more affluent peers. One critical component of a quality education is real-life experiences- that's where the ZooMobile comes in! When my students are able to observe and touch real pythons, they will be motivated to read, write, and learn about them! This ZooMobile program features live pythons and the book by Eric Carle entitled, The Very Greedy Python. In this book,the ravenous python eats every creature he sees. From a tiny mouse to an enormous elephant, nothing is ever too big for this snake! This book is always a class favorite when we do our Eric Carle author study... now it will really come to life as it's featured in this ZooMobile program! Students will learn about pythons, what they really eat, and how they eat it when they get to see pythons up close. I'm hopeful that the ZooMobile can come to each of the five kindergarten classes. Please help to make school meaningful and engaging for my students! By bringing the ZooMobile to my students, you will make a huge impact on their knowledge, enthusiasm for learning, and love of school! Thank you.
