Lacrosse Your Way To A Healthy Life

My students need a lacrosse set that contains twelve sticks and lacrosse balls.

Learning about different sports and how others express their athletic sides is an important part of learning about other cultures and daily lives. I teach physical education and health to grades 6-12, and my yearly budget is about $100, which will not buy very much equipment. Most of what we have is from many years ago. I teach at a school that has a very high free and reduced lunch rate, and for many of my students, the only time they get to be children is at school.

Outside of school, most have jobs at an early age just to make ends meet at home, and face many challenges daily that children shouldn't. The school isn't much different, where funds are limited, but with creative teachers and educators, we offer the children some of the best and most memorable times of their lives. I would like to be able to show them that even though we may not have the most money, we can still have great opportunities and must persevere through tough times.

The resources I am requesting is a lacrosse set. To many people, this would just be another set of sticks and balls, but to my students it will be seen as an opportunity to achieve greatness and learn about how others play games around the world. It will also help prepare them for college in many ways as well. Mentally, they will learn about different cultures and where this sport is played as well as about their own bodies and how to be healthy. Physically, they will understand how their bodies react and work using different types of equipment, as well as tricking them into learning about body systems in a fun way. And socially, they will be able to relate to people who aren't always like they are, and will be able to share a common knowledge through sports.

Your help will make a difference in not just one life, but many lives each day. My students make due with the equipment that we have had for many many years, and greatly appreciate new materials.
