What made the Bean Stalk grow? I teach ninth grade students in the area of Earth and Environmental Science. We live in a small town where the cotton mills shut down and moved away. The town peoples' income has greatly declined. I want to teach scientific method by using plant growth.

I planted a few flowers in my classroom window and many of my students never saw a seed or planted one. Understanding how our earth materials function is paramount to understanding how to save our planet. Most science funding goes to chemistry, biology, or physics; therefore, I MUST supplement my classroom needs. The interest my students showed in the plants encouraged me to add it into my experimental lessons.

I need sanitized soil, sand, seeds, and pebbles on a larger scale so that my students can hypothesize, predict, collect data, graph, and conclude the growth of different types of seeds. Understanding Scientific Inquiry is the basis of ALL science course achievement.

With your contributions, I will engage students in learning and possibly inspire a future scientist who may create or discover an invention or method to improve our environment.
