Practice makes perfect! This is especially true for first graders just learning the basic skills. My students are from a low-income, military community.
My students do not have the materials needed at home to practice the skills learned in school. Sometimes it is as simple as not having a pencil at home to complete an assignment.
I would like to give each student the opportunity to use the same materials we use in class at home. The materials will stay in a pouch in the students' daily folder so they can use them to complete homework assignments. The students need two pencils, a ruler, a small set of crayons, scissors, an eraser, a small sharpener, and a glue stick. These supplies will help the students get the practice they need to master skills. The variety of materials will also let me be more creative with homework assignments. For example, the assignment could be to find and cut out odd numbers or use ads to cut out items and make a number problem.
Your help will ensure that students are able to practice the skills learned in school. Practice makes perfect!
