My students need 20 basic calculators and a book of calculator riddles.
FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Fehr's classroom raised $154
This project is fully funded
I am a first year teacher working in a Title 1, rural school in Illinois. I absolutely love teaching and am passionate about giving my 2nd grade students the best education possible.
These come in many different sizes but they are always exactly one foot long. What's the answer? You figure it out by doing the following problem using your calculator: 53 x 40 x 5 + 9 x 5=? The mathematical answer is 53045. But how does that help solve the riddle? To find the answer, turn your calculator upside down and you will see the word “Shoes!”
Can you imagine the shouts of delight and giggles when students use calculators to practice their math facts and are able to solve riddles at the same time?
By having practice with calculators, students are able to practice their basic math facts as well as prepare for higher level math such as division, multiplication, and decimals. Calculators will provide a strong foundation in basic 2nd grade mathematical concepts and get students ready for the next grade! Additionally, these calculators are a great way to integrate technology in math in a fun and exciting way by using calculator riddles!
Your help will ensure that my students build a strong mathematical foundation. You will be also making math fun for my 2nd grade students which will hopefully carry with them for years to come and cause them to enjoy math, not hate it like many kids do. Your donation will help me and my classes for years to come. Thank you for considering this proposal.
