"I teach strings (traditional and Suzuki) for grades K-5 at a magnet school for the arts in a high poverty community.
At my school, anyone who wants to play a string instrument is given the opportunity to do so, but I do not have enough fractional size instruments to ensure that everyone is on the correct size instrument.
Adding three more 1/2 size violins will allow students to avoid the frustration of trying to play an instrument that is too large.
As these instruments will be used for years to come, your assistance will allow many students to have a positive musical experience as part of their education.
My students need these 3 half-size violins in order to learn proper technique.
Dear Carolyn, Randi, Elizabeth, NEDRA, Deborah, Patty, Virginia, Kari, Heather, Mary, Lauren, Diane, Chantelle, Community Foundation of Central Georgia and Anonymous Donors,
Thank you so much for your contributions to fund three half-size violins for my string students. Those violins have arrived and are being used by some very deserving students who would otherwise go without the opportunity to experience the joy of playing a string instrument. Learning how to play the violin helps students with focus in their academics. It also opens up the opportunity for a lifetime of music making. These violins will be used for years to come by other deserving students. It was a great help to have these quality instruments arrive at the start of the school year.
With gratitude, Ms. B.

Dear Carolyn, Randi, Elizabeth, NEDRA, Deborah, Patty, Virginia, Kari, Heather, Mary, Lauren, Diane, Chantelle, Community Foundation of Central Georgia and Anonymous Donors,
Thank you for all of your generous donations to fund three half-size violins for my string program. Our inner city school is the only elementary program in the area that offers string instruction, and our students can start playing in kindergarten if they are ready. Participation in the string program reinforces and enhances all of the skills necessary to be successful in academics and also cultivates what Shinichi Suzuki described as "a noble heart". I try to accommodate every student who wants to learn to play a string instrument, but I always run out of the smallest sizes. It becomes quite a challenge for students to play well if their instruments are too large. I will now have three more quality violins available, and they will get many years of use. I know my students will be very excited when these violins arrive!
With gratitude, Ms. B.
