Reading the Tiger Way

My students need a string a word activity center, a connect a sound matching boards set, 2 chart tablets, and 2 word whammer phonics sets.

We are a transitional class made up of 15 wonderful children that are looking for ways to shine in Oklahoma. We are very smart, but we need another year to mature before going to first grade.

We are sometimes "forgotten" in the system. We don't fit into a large group, so when supplies are ordered we don't always get included. Our classroom is slowly becoming the type of place that is inviting with fun activities that allow our T-1 the best learning environment.

We need centers and items that are hands on for our developmental needs. The centers ordered would meet those needs. They would offer items that met our developmental, educational, and social needs during center times. Centers not only allow for reinforcement of skills, but also for social interaction which is a big part of the T-1 experience. The Word Whammers allow the students to work independently. This allows them the chance to build words and self correct. This allows the teacher to work with small groups uninterrupted. The Connect the Sound Boards and the Sting-a-word activity center allows the students to have hands on activities that does not require paper and pencil. Children feel like they are "playing" instead of learning the concepts. The tablets will be used to conduct classroom writing activities as a class. Children will be able to learn correct sentence structure and participate in whole class writing situations.

These children are just looking for a place to shine. They need a chance to learn in the best environment that meets their needs. They are a wonderful group that deserves the best.
