Hi! I teach a Special Education class in a high-need, urban community. My students have Multiple Disabilities, which include seizures, Cerebral Palsy, and Down Syndrome. They are in Grades 4-7 but are functioning on a Pre-K to 2nd grade level.

Due to the different needs of all my students one of the hardest subjects to teach is Science. My students learn Science best by completing hands on activities with charts and books that correspond. There is one area in Life Science that my students really enjoy and that is the Life Cycle of Plants.

A classroom greenhouse with matching charts and books, Bingo game, leaning center, and plant kits would help my students understand the life cycle of plants. They would not only be able to see the process from beginning to end but they would also have the responsibility for caring for their very own plants. To take the life cycle of these plants even further my students would be able to grow different vegetables and herbs that we would be able to use in our Cooking Class.

Your help will ensure that my students will better understand the life cycle of plants. It will encourage them to take better care of the world around them. Caring for their own plants will help develop a sense of accomplishment as they watch their seed grow into a beautiful plant. Thank you for your consideration.
