My students, who are blind, need The Nasco Power House, Photon Solar Racer Kit, and a Renewable Energy Classroom pack.

I teach science to Middle and High school students at a residential school for the Blind.

Our students are "in the dark" literally and figuratively when it comes to common energy sources and their alternatives. The students are very interested, but our school lacks the supplies to teach this concept in the way our children can understand.

Since our students cannot see, they need hands on activities that will allow them to understand alternative energy sources, and become an educated consumer of energy. The "Power House" kit uses a creative storyline to engage students as they explore up to 90 activities to explore "off the grid" power. In conjunction with the Power House, the "Renewable Energy Classroom Pack" uses very sturdy equipment to give hands on demonstrations of renewable energy sources as well as exploring the advantages and disadvantages of fossil fuels. The "Photon Action Solar Car" will allow students to explore solar energy as they race each other. These activities can be used year after year in a variety of Middle and High School units. Our creative and motivated students are sure to come up with a few "bright ideas" of their own after these units.

You can "shine the light" of alternative energy sources into the lives of these students. Your contribution will allow me to present lessons that will be important to them as they become adult consumers and voters.
