This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
Help make our school stand out!!! I teach in a public school, kindergarten through eighth grade art in a neighborhood filled with gangs, violence, and homelessness. Our school is achieving, which is rare for the area. In addition to the one classroom per grade, we have three special education classrooms.
My students are constantly asking me to do some sort of painting on the walls of our school. I would love to do this sort of activity with students that have the willingness and excitement to do something in our building, and feel proud of themselves.
My students need mural paint, and brushes to design and implement a large scale mural in the halls of our inner city school. They also need paint markers to detail and pattern the basic design of the mural. The mural will be a center spot in our school that will been seen not just by other students and staff in our school, but will demonstrate a sense of self worth and reflection to the students that produce the mural.
Your donations will not just be helping a school gain something beautiful and memorable. It will ignite the fire in children to love and be proud of art in their community. It will give them another outlet to express themselves in a tumultuous.
