Strike! Bowling is Fun for Everyone!

My students need a class trip for 10 students to participate in physical education and social skill activities at Chelsea Piers Lanes.

I teach a wonderful group of ten students with severe and multiple disabilities. My students are a great group who love to learn and need as many opportunities as possible to exercise their fine and gross motor skills. The children thrive on social interactions as well as physical movement. The more chances for them to be active the better their chances for success. This program is extremely important as it is a multi-sensory experience that will truly help my children develop.

One of the areas that my students need the most help in is physical education. Many of the children receive both physical and occupational therapies in school as well as at home. Because of their physical exceptionalities many of my students would not be able to participate in activities such as bowling if it were not for outside programs designed for people with special needs. Adaptive bowling is a great experience for my students but it requires a fee that many of these high-need students are unable to pay on their own.

My students need an environment that is supportive and conducive to their success. The bowling alley we have selected is known for its adaptive resources and helpful staff members. With your help we will be able to provide an experience that will help my students grow and develop their mobility skills further.

Without help from donations from caring individuals such as you, my students will not be able to attend trips to this bowling alley. You will make it possible for my students to have an experience that many people may take for granted, a day at the bowling alley with their friends. Please help my students have this opportunity, it will benefit all of them more than you can imagine! Learning takes place in many different locations, we need you to help us get there.
