Mrs. Ferguson from Starkville MS is requesting supplies through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
The students in my 6th grade gifted classroom need multiple Lego blocks and Roof Tiles Sets.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
I teach a sixth-grade class of 35 gifted students. Our school consists of a large number of low-income students with a big desire to learn. Our classroom has very few manipulatives for student use and for classroom projects.
These gifted students have a insatiable desire to learn all about our world and careers that await them. They have expressed a high interest in architecture as well as building "BIG" things with Legos.
I would like for this lesson to interest all of my students by providing them with a rich understanding of architecture as well as the opportunity to use tools that they love (Legos) to put their knowledge to work. Many of the students already have a talent for understanding dimensions and building, but aren't able to use those talents at home because they don't have the tools to do so.
Your sponsorship will allow these students the chance to put their talents to work in order for them to realize their own abilities and to be proud when others see their accomplishments on display. Your generosity could inspire someone to become an architect, or at the least, a LegoLand builder (and that's no small job)!
