My students need a digital camcorder and 2 GB of memory!
FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Secor's classroom raised $269
This project is fully funded
I am math teacher at an inner-city high school in Maryland. My students are bright and creative students who, unfortunately, have learned to hate math, mostly due to low expectations and "boring" classes. I'm ready to spice things up and give my students a chance to show off their creative skills, while teaching each other important math concepts - and I need your help.
My students are of the YouTube generation, but many don't have the resources to participate in it. The world is missing out on my students incredible talents and creativity - they can act, rap, and they certainly make me laugh everyday. They're funny! I would like my students to work in groups throughout the year to make funny, educational, and hopefully musical YouTube videos in which they teach math topics. How could you forget the Pythagorean Theorem and how it works when you've posted a song (that you wrote!) about it on YouTube? I always tell my kids that the best way to learn something is to teach it, and creating videos is a great way to do that.
Further, my students will learn technology and computer literacy, which, as we all know, is incredibly important in the job market today.
I am confident that this project will excite my students and really "hook" them. To create math YouTube videos this year, I will need a digital camera and memory for it. That's where you come in.
Your donation will help my students learn to love math again, share their creativity (and math knowledge) on YouTube, cement important math skills, and practice technology and computer literacy. You will truly make a difference in many students’ lives.
