Magnets Attract!

My students need 2 Mysterious Magnet Tubes, Magnets Wands, Magnetic Marbles, 2 Magnet Express boards, and 1 Classroom Magnet Lab Kit, and the Funny Faces and Magnetic and Non-Magnetic books.

FULLY FUNDED! Dr. Poindexter's classroom raised $335

This project is fully funded

Inquiry Based Science is the way to capture the attention of the young minds of the Kindergarten students that I teach. I teach full day Kindergarten and many of my students are entering a school situation for the first time. I believe in presenting those students with hands-on learning materials so that they can explore their environment.

Over the years, I have watched my students scramble to the magnet table and activities whenever I put them out for use. They always want to know when it is their turn, and how much longer they have.

I would like to use these magnet resources to help my students become problem solvers, thinking about ways in which we can use magnets. I would also like them to be able to use these materials as a whole group, rather than having a small group use them. We would be able to have whole group discussions about things we are discovering. Allowing each of my students to have magnets and magnetic objects would allow each of them to draw their own conclusions and make predictions about magnets. It would also help them see that Science is an important area of study, one that envelopes all areas of the curriculum.

You will make it possible for my students to see the exciting side of Science, enrich and encourage future Scientists, and provide enough materials for each of my students to engage in self-discovery.
