"Lights, Camera, Action, Scene 1: Art students create a backdrop for annual recital. In this rural Florida town, lacking in funding, the gym serves as our events location for all assemblies, concerts, and meetings.

I teach high school art. I teach all levels of art to all levels of students, as I am the only art teacher. I would like to engage my students in making a mural backdrop for "On Broadway", an annual event sponsored by our chorus.

Scene 2: I have very talented students, since the school opened 8 years ago my classroom has been filled with students enthusiastic to learn. Studying murals, meeting and watching a muralist, and making thumb nail sketches for a mural make for an exciting idea. Why not enhance the atmosphere for "On Broadway" by making a mural backdrop? This is a perfect idea, serving so many people, and involving so many skills. But with the lack of supplies, it has been impossible to see this idea come to light.

Scene 3: With rolled canvas, water soluble oils, and brushes all my students could participate, provide a service, solve a problem, perform, and create a lasting piece of art.

Scene 4: You will make it possible for my students to have an experience that is rewarding to both themselves and the community, enable them to further master a craft, and provide an opportunity of a

lifetime. hide»

Dear Susan, Kendra, Cecelia, Jeanette, Kathy, victoria, Beth, Liz, Stephanie, Emily, Molly, Sarah, Erica, Julia, Amy and Anonymous Donor,

WOW!! I can't thank you enough for helping with this student project! These supplies will be utilized for a project that will be enjoyed by so many members of the community, especially the families in the town. As the art teacher and project coordinator you have allowed me to open so many doors of opportunity for so many students. From the bottom of my heart I appreciate your kindness. Words cannot express my gratitude to you. Thank you so very much.

I'm always excited for the chance to help other kids have a bigger, better experience with the arts in school! Thanks to tomatonation.com for pointing me toward this project."
