This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
I am currently a Full Day Kindergarten teacher. Many of my students are entering school for the first time and have no other school experience. Our population is increasingly becoming more transient and many live below the poverty level.
After attending a Science workshop last summer-and signing up for it again to help others this summer, I have taken an interest in showing my students how things grow; whether it be mold or a sunflower, I believe it is important that my children have the experience to watch, predict, journal, and talk about what they see happening.
You donation will help my students experience the growing process all year round. With the 2 indoor greenhouses, we will be able to plant many things at a time and watch them grow. When we plant vegetables, my students will be able to enjoy the "fruits of their labor". My students will be responsible for the planting, care, and observation of their plants in these greenhouses.
Your donation will not only impact these students but students in my classroom for years to come. I would love to share with them the exciting world of environmental science!
