Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am a preschool Special Education teacher. Our school services about 40 students between the ages of 3 and 5. The students live in a rural, agricultural community. A majority of the students are low-income, second language learners, and minority students.
Currently, the students are sitting on a twenty year old rug, that was not designed for a classroom. The rug is worn, musty, and very dirty.
The students would benefit from a clean, new, colorful circle time carpet. This carpet would allow them to learn their shapes and colors by identification, as well as allowing them to learn these basic skills through reading activities and songs.
You will make it possible for my students to learn their shapes and colors, and experience circle time on a clean, comfortable carpet. This would also allow low-income students the opportunity to enjoy something colorful, energizing, and new.
More than half of students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
