My students need 24 books in 2 sets, "Arnold Lobal" and Caldecott winners.
FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Bania's classroom raised $190
This project is fully funded
My 1st grade classroom has a variety of children, some whose parents do not speak English, some who have repeated the grade, or some with learning disabilities. Most come from low income families where parents work 2 jobs to make ends meet. They all have one thing in common, they have learned to love books!
My students are in an intensive reading classroom. We spend the major part of our day on reading and writing. They have worked very hard to become better readers and writers, and have even tried to help their parents learn English.
The first field trip we took this year was to the public library. My children could not believe that there could be so many books in one building! Unfortunately, their parents do not have the time or ability to take them to the library. Most fathers work 2 jobs and mothers have no transportation.
I would like to reward my children for working so hard with books that they can read and share with one another. Then I want to let them choose two books that they can call their very own!
Nearly all students from low‑income households
