Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

Room 21 consists of 3rd graders whose parents are predominately from Southeast Asia and Latin America. Learning about plants is a critical component in our curriculum. Family gardening is important.

A father from Mexico said, "Thank you for teaching my son about the garden. Now he knows how I make a living." The first rule of life is survival for our families. Healthy kids learn better.

Our school has over 10,000 square feet of usable space for flowers, vegetables, and trees which are becoming living lessons in the role nature plays in feeding, clothing, and sustaining life on our planet. We need plants, an animal life cycle activity, a set of books on the plant life cycle and an aquarium for the first phase of a hands-on experience creating a learning garden that illustrates the dynamic geography of a diverse California.

Our mascot, Annie Annelid shares with our students how to become stewards of our fragile environment. We work daily to foster a healthy place for our animal and flower friends to flourish and strengthen our common home.
