This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

A typical day begins with breakfast in the classroom. The excitement of seeing and greeting each other every morning and the conversations around breakfast is an exciting sound to hear!

My students come from families with very limited education.

Parents are immigrants from other countries in which they never had the opportunity to attend school, or get through elementary school. Parents are very grateful, respectful, and it shows in their children.

My Project

My students do not have the means to pay for music classes outside of the school. I would like to give them the opportunity to fall in love with music. Research shows that children who are involved in music expand their skills in many other areas, including mathematics. I would like my students to be able to read basic music notes. My students need recorders and corresponding books and CD's.

This project will allow my students to gain an appreciation of music.

They will gain new skills that if not taught in school, they will not learn. They will have an opportunity to express themselves creatively while expanding their knowledge.
